“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten."
― Neil Gaiman (English author)
Hello!
It's Finals Week! Truly hoping you're all getting some good breaks in-between the hustle and bustle of the week, whether you're balancing work and classes, stressing over a big project, or grading a ridiculous stack of papers. Wherever you find yourself - you got this! 🌻There's only one more week to go until Spring Break, woo!
This past week, we held our final general meeting of the quarter! Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to Meeting 4: Sports COMS with Dr. MLB. We hope you were able to learn a lot and connect with Dr. MLB on this very, very cool field of communication studies. We're a bit late on the recap this week, but as a reminder, ALL of our newsletters, meeting recaps, and other materials (such as meeting recordings and resources) are available at the Cal Poly COMS Club blog page!
The Weekly Newsletter will be on break next Monday, March 22nd for Spring Break and will resume Monday, March 29th for our first update of Spring Quarter! Look forward to it! On a similar note, the next COMS Club meeting will be another Welcome Back social event during the early weeks of Spring Quarter—follow our Instagram to stay tuned for the first social event of next quarter!
Additionally (as always), COMS Club is happy to consider posting your event, survey, or senior project as part of our newsletter. Send us a message at calpolyslocomsclub@gmail.com!

This past week marks a number of events to key an eye out for, including developments to Tianna Arata's court case as well as the trial of Derek Chauvin. As a break from your work, check out the history of Student Activism at Cal Poly through this cool resource through the Robert E. Kennedy Library. Please continue to stay informed and proactive in addressing and responding to anti-Black racism, racism against the (BI)POC Community at large, and injustice in our classrooms and communities.
Thanks for your continued support of COMS Club! Reach out to us on Instagram @calpolyslocomsclub or our club email at calpolyslocomsclub@gmail.com with any questions or just for a chat :)
And as always, take care, and all of us here at COMS Club wish you a great upcoming week! You got this!
