We're almost half-way through the quarter already! Thank you to our wonderful Mentors and Mentees that were able to make it to meeting 3!
This week, we kept it casual. We started with a quick discussion about polychronic and monochronic time (and a bit about The Bachelor too!). After a general welcome to our Mentors and Mentees, we played a round of Cal Poly Trivia Kahoot (congrats to our winner Amanda!). We then spent the rest of the hour playing some get-to-know-you bingo. Big congratulations to our winners: Shelby, Sammy, Anastajia, and Bella!
We unfortunately ran out of time for our Mentor-Mentee breakout room activity, but we hope to get the groups connected ASAP in the meantime over our COMS Mentorship Program community Slack and via email. If you have been accepted as a Mentor or Mentee, check your email for the spreadsheet to see who's your Mentor or Mentee and a link for the Slack. Please feel free to email calpolyslocomsclub@gmail.com or DM us on Instagram @calpolyslocomsclub for any of the links! Next week, we will be allotting time for the Mentorship groups to meet for the last 15 minutes of the hour. The board members will also stay behind after the meeting to answer any question about the Mentorship Program.
Next week, we will be hosting our Voter Registration 101 meeting! Our board is very excited to be holding this meeting considering the presidential election is right around the corner. We will be discussing the basics on how to get registered as a voter, how to check your registration status, as well as cover some lesser known how-tos for a smooth election day. Additionally, we will cover some of the biggest California propositions that will be on the ballot in November. For this meeting particularly, please bring your friends and share the info with your classmates
Also, check out our Virtual Fishbowl every Thursday afternoon from 2-3pm PST! Our Fishbowls are a casual study hour; drop by to ask a question, say hi, or just to have some company as you study. Learn more here.
Again, it was so great to see all our attendees at our second meeting, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon at our next meeting, Wednesday, October 14th from 11am-12pm PST.
All the information shared in the meeting can be found on our website, or detailed below in the attached slides:
