Thank you so much for everyone who could make it to our first COMS Club meeting of the quarter! It was great to see everyone - new faces and returning ones! (Also, the unintentional icebreaker question of the week was "Cake or Pie?". It was fun to hear everyone's thoughts and suggestions about their dessert of choice!)
Our meeting was relatively straightforward this week. Our presidents Shelby Wong and Michelle Pineda introduced COMS Club: our mission statement, logo, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Treasurer, Chelsie Lui, briefly introduced the club's weekly meeting format and membership. From there, each board member introduced themselves, as well as our fantastic club advisor Dr. Megan Lambertz-Berndt. And to close the meeting, our secretary, Anika Maney, previewed the 2020-21 COMS Mentorship Program. Following the end of the meeting, the board members stayed an extra 20 minutes to answer any last questions for the group.
Following the meeting, both the Mentor and Mentee applications for the 2020-21 COMS Mentorship Program are OPEN. The program will have rolling application throughout the quarter, but the first round of mentor-mentee groups will be announced October 7th (Meeting 3). Learn more here.
